Government of Veracruz aligns policies for sustainable livestock development

As the first *100 days of Nacho Luna‘s administration have passed, the municipality of Coatepec shows a work dynamic focused on social closeness, sustainability and administrative efficiency.

This period has been characterized by a transition towards public policies that seek to rescue the social fabric and address historical lags in infrastructure and services.

From the Secretary of the City Council, Óscar Guiot has been the key player in maintaining governance and institutional order. Under the direction of RigoMora, CMAS Coatepec has prioritized preventive maintenance of the hydraulic network and optimization of supply. His management has managed to stabilize critical areas, improving the response to citizen reports and modernizing collection processes.

Ariez Guiot, Director of Environment, has promoted a green agenda focused on reforestation and responsible waste management.

In a municipality with deep coffee and agricultural roots, Israel Martínez, Director of Agricultural Development, has stood out for the management of direct support to producers and the implementation of technical workshops, seeking to strengthen the local economy from its productive base.

With the holding of the 17th edition of the International Orchid Festival, the Coatepec City Council seeks to strengthen the tourist projection of the municipality and consolidate it as the best Magic Town in Veracruz, reported the municipal president, Jorge Ignacio Luna Hernández.

In a press conference, the mayor highlighted that this meeting, considered the most important orchid festival in Mexico, is once again directly assumed by the municipal government, after 16 years of not being part of the institutional agenda. With this new stage, around 30 thousand visitors are expected to attend.

Luna Hernández stressed that Coatepec has established itself as the capital of orchids, recalling that Orchid Day was recently established in Mexico and that this festival is the most relevant in the country within its category.

He explained that his administration has defined this and other meetings as anchor events, with the purpose of detonating the tourist, economic and cultural development of the municipality. In this sense, he pointed out that the City Council will assume key tasks such as the organization, logistics and dissemination of the festival, both locally and in other states and cities in the country.

The International Orchid Festival will take place from March 27 to April 5 at the Texín event hall, the traditional venue of the event. The mayor trusted that this edition will be one of the best in the history of the festival, as it coincides with the Easter holiday period, which will favor a greater tourist influx.

Likewise, he indicated that they are working on a strategy to encourage visitors to stay longer in Coatepec, which is why the City Council maintains dialogue with the hotel sector to offer affordable rates and various lodging options.

“We are going to promote all the attractions that Coatepec offers: its gastronomy, its architecture, its natural and cultural spaces,” said the mayor, pointing out that the Tourism Directorate is already implementing promotional actions.

Finally, he reported that in this 17th edition there will be the participation of international specialists from Guatemala, Puerto Rico, Colombia, the United States, Brazil and Peru, which reinforces the international nature of the festival and positions Coatepec as a national and international reference in the cultivation and exhibition of orchids.

The municipal president of Coatepec, Jorge Ignacio Luna Hernández, alerted the population about telephone extortion attempts in which people outside the City Council impersonate him or supposed municipal officials, with the aim of obtaining personal information, for which he called not to fall for this type of deception and to report any suspicious calls.

The mayor reported that at least three or four citizens have reported to him that they have received calls in which, using their name or that of alleged municipal police officers, an attempt is made to deceive the population. He stressed that these versions are totally false and clarified that no public servant of the City Council makes calls to request personal data or financial resources.

Given this situation, Luna Hernández indicated that she instructed the Directorate of Social Communication to issue a preventive statement to warn citizens. He reiterated that, if you receive this type of calls, it is best to hang up immediately and file the corresponding complaint with the authorities. He acknowledged that, although these are not recurring events in Coatepec, these cases will be followed up in accordance with established protocols.

On another issue, the mayor reported that, as a result of the recently recorded cold fronts, the City Council, through the Municipal DIF, enabled a temporary shelter to provide shelter to people in vulnerable situations. He explained that three people from the municipal seat received support due to the low temperatures.

He added that Municipal Civil Protection personnel carried out tours in the capital to identify people who remained on public roads without a space to shelter, inviting them to move to the shelter. He noted that some accepted the support, while others decided not to, a decision that was respected.

Finally, the municipal president reiterated that the local government maintains its commitment to protect and support the population, while urging citizens to remain alert, avoid falling into telephone extortion and report any irregular situation to the corresponding authorities.
