Mbappé equals records

With this goal, Mbappé reached eight goals in the 2026 World Cup, equaling Lionel Messi at the top of the scoring table. The Frenchman reached 20 goals in the history of the World Cup, one less than the Argentine. Furthermore, at 27 years and 201 days, he became the youngest player to play 20 World Cup matches, surpassing Wladislaw Zmuda.

Mbappé could have increased his tally, but Bounou saved him from a penalty in the 29th minute. The 35-year-old Al-Hilal goalkeeper dove to his left to catch the shot.

French domain

France controlled the match from the beginning. Bounou avoided an early goal by deflecting a right hand from Mbappé in the 4th minute and a header from Dayot Upamecano a minute later. Dembele also demanded the Moroccan goalkeeper with several shots. Lucas Digne hit a left-footed shot against the crossbar in added time of the first half.

In the second half, Mateta headed over the crossbar in the 88th minute, and Bounou won the duel again in the 94th minute. Morocco barely bothered Mike Maignan with a last-gasp attempt by Gessime Yassine.

Semifinals and scoring table

France will play the semifinals on Tuesday the 14th at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas against the winner of Spain vs. Belgium. The ‘Bleus’ are seeking their third title after 1998 and 2018, and are undefeated with six victories.

In the scoring table, Mbappé and Messi lead with eight goals, followed by Erling Haaland with seven. The Norwegian, a sensation in his first World Cup, will face England on Saturday.

Gilberto Mora, the talented 17-year-old midfielder of the Xolos de Tijuana, made headlines again, but this time off the pitch.

During his vacation, a fan caught him on the streets of Tijuana at the wheel of a high-end car. The vehicle: a BMW 2 Series Gran Coupé, whose value is around 1.2 million pesos.

The model caught the attention of the young footballer’s followers. Although discreet in profile compared to other more striking designs, the car is considered luxury. It has a 167-horsepower 3-cylinder turbo engine, sports wheels, digital interior screens and optimized autonomous driving functions.

Mora will soon return to training with the border team, but in the meantime he is enjoying a few days of rest. His presence on the radar of European clubs and his performance on the field keep him at the center of the sports conversation in Mexico.

France and Spain meet in the World Cup semi-final

For the third time in two years, the French and the Spanish clash in a decisive semi-final.

France vs Spain: power duel in Dallas

For the third time in two years, France and Spain meet again in a semi-final. This time, at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, for a ticket to the 2026 World Cup final.

Recent history favors La Roja: victories in Euro 2024 and the Nations League 2024-25. But Les Bleus arrive with a thirst for revenge.

“He has many qualities. He knows how to attack and defend very well. If he has conceded only one goal in six games, it is because it is difficult to create chances for him,” declared Didier Deschamps, French coach.

The French coach insisted on the importance of adaptation and trusted in the offensive power of his team.

On the other hand, Luis de la Fuente recognized that this France has grown: “It has players of exceptional size. We will seek to impose our style and minimize their strengths.”

The match will be played this Tuesday, July 14 at 1:00 p.m. Live broadcast on Las Estrellas, Channel 5, Azteca 7, TUDN and ViX World Pass.

The winner will be the first finalist of North America 2026.
