Claim for lack of dialogue
Senator Gerardo Fernández Noroña publicly reproached Morena’s coordinator in the Senate, Ignacio Mier Velazco, for ruling him out as a candidate to repeat the presidency of the Board of Directors without consulting him first.
Fernández Noroña considered that the decision should have been communicated first through internal dialogue, not through the media. He described the way in which Mier made his position known as unfortunate. He pointed out that, before making it public, he could have spoken directly with him.
The legislator indicated that he will analyze whether he participates in the process, depending on the support within the bench. He recalled that his arrival to the presidency of the Board of Directors was the result of a political agreement. He explained that this pact arose after the commitment for him to lead the coordination of the Chamber of Deputies was not fulfilled.
Therefore, he maintained that his appointment responded to a prior agreement, not a unilateral decision. The controversy reflects internal differences in Morena’s parliamentary group.
