President Claudia Sheinbaum announced that the Gertrudis Bocanegra Scholarship will be awarded to students from public universities in Zacatecas. The objective is to guarantee the right to a scholarship from basic to higher education. Starting in September, informational assemblies will begin at universities.

“Everything we can do for the girls, boys, and young people of Mexico, we are going to do,” said the president.

The scholarship is intended for transportation, with a bimonthly amount to cover basic expenses.

At the event, Sheinbaum gave cards from the Rita Cetina Scholarship for uniforms and supplies to elementary school children. This annual support of 2,500 pesos will begin to be delivered in August.

The Secretary of Education, Mario Delgado, reported that this year will close with 22 million scholarship recipients throughout the country. He also highlighted an investment of 24 billion pesos in the La Escuela es Nuestra program and the construction of new high schools, including six Margarita Maza High Schools in Zacatecas.

The national coordinator of Scholarships for Wellbeing, Julio César León, explained that in Zacatecas there are 180,627 beneficiary students, with an investment of more than 1,600 million pesos. They will be joined by 83,353 primary school children with the Rita Cetina Scholarship.

Governor David Monreal thanked the resources and construction of a campus of the Rosario Castellanos National University, which will offer 10 bachelor’s degrees for more than 2,000 students.
