No rain to stop them

Not even the electrical storm that hit Mexico City prevented Grupo Firme from performing its tenth and eleventh presentation at the GNP Stadium. Before 65 thousand attendees, the Tijuana group offered “The Last Peda.”

“We were close to having our concert canceled due to lightning, but… Up to Mexico City and pure Grupo Firme!” said Edwin Caz, the group’s vocalist.

With songs like “Typic classic”, “Se fue la pantera” and “Congratulations”, the stadium became a popular party. Pranks, dances, viral videos and romantic advice marked the evening.

“Gentlemen, leaving the Grupo Firme concert with a three-meat hamburger and heading straight to the motel,” said Edwin, laughing.

Special guests included El Flako, El Yaki, Los Ángeles de Charly, Joss Favela, Raúl Beltrán and Moy Bobadilla. The latter recognized Caz as his musical godfather and promised to have his own date at the venue in 2027.

After performing “Difficult Mode”, Edwin reflected on the group’s trajectory and called for unity among Mexicans.

“Grupo Firme has had ups, downs, again ups, again downs and again here we are in the ups, old man and they have never seen us speak badly of any artist, because that’s not how we Mexicans have to be. We have to support each other among Mexicans, my respects to all the artists. And remember, you have to be equal and Mexico… Mexico is cool, bastard!”, he noted.

Despite the return of the rain during the video for “Benefit of the doubt”, which shows the Angel of Independence in a storm, Firme remained on stage for more than three hours. They said goodbye with “What a lost wave”, “Get over me” and “Thank you”.

The goodbye of Aylín Mujica

Aylín Mujica faces the death of her eldest son, Mauro, who lost his life at the age of 33. The actress and host, 51, said goodbye to him on social media with a loving message and a request: to send her strength to endure the pain.

Although Mauro was taken to a hospital, they were unable to save him. The cause of death has not been revealed.

Mujica had previously spoken about his fear of death. In an interview with Yolanda Andrade and Montserrat Oliver, she declared herself to be thanatophobic, a disorder she has suffered from since childhood.

“Yes… I am very afraid to think, I have had it since I was a child, that is very interesting… Thanatophobia exists, a phobia of death,” she expressed.

“I am afraid of not being conscious in this dimension, of not being, of not existing; of not seeing my father, my mother, my children.”

Thanatophobia is an extreme, irrational fear of death that can lead to paralyzing anxiety and panic attacks. In this moment of grief, the actress faces her greatest fear come true.

Robert Smith’s criticism

Within hours of the opening whistle of the 2026 World Cup final, Robert Smith, lead singer of The Cure, used social networks to express his dissatisfaction with the first halftime show of the tournament.

On the band’s official account, Smith reacted to the event promoted by FIFA, which will bring together Madonna, Shakira, Justin Bieber and BTS. His first message was brief: “AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH.”

Gianni Infantino had described the show as “innovative.”

Hours later, Smith clarified his position. He said that the criticism was not against the artists, but against the decision to incorporate a show similar to that of the Super Bowl.

“For those who still don’t fully understand: the point is not really who organizes or who performs, but rather the terrible idea of doing a halftime show at a soccer World Cup final. If you now understand my ‘Aaaaagh!’ a little better.”

He also opposed the presence of Donald Trump in the stadium to present the trophy alongside Infantino.

“Infantosser has said that he and US President Trumpton will present the trophy together. Unfortunately, I no longer have enough A’s left to express the ‘ARGH’ that should come next.”

Smith accompanied his words with hashtags such as “bread and circuses”, “fuck Fifa” and “please f*** off”.

The show in detail

The show was hosted by Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and will be the first in the tournament’s 96-year history. Although it was speculated that it would last 25 minutes, the producers confirmed that it will be approximately 11 minutes, respecting the regulatory 15-minute break for the players.
