A piece of history in your hands
Lovers of culture, history and collecting, this is for you! The Vatican post offices have just released a limited edition of stamps that capture a unique moment: the period between the death of Pope Francis and the election of his successor. These are not just postage stickers, they are pieces of art that encapsulate tradition and transition in the Catholic Church!
Details that inspire
The vacant see seals present a design full of symbolism: two crossed keys (representing the keys of the Kingdom of Heaven) without the papal tiara, flanked by three angels who guard this sacred legacy. Available in four denominations (€1.25, €1.30, €2.45 and €3.20), each one bears the inscription “Sede Vacante MMXXV”, thus marking its historical relevance.
Francesco Santarossa, philately expert and owner of a shop in front of St. Peter’s Square, explains it perfectly: “When the new pontiff is elected, these stamps will no longer be used to send mail, but their value as collector’s items will skyrocket.” What better way to invest in something that combines faith, art and legacy!
A tradition that lasts
This is not the first time that the Vatican commemorates a papal interregnum with seals. The practice dates back to 1929, and the last broadcast was in 2012, when Benedict XVI made history by resigning. Now, in 2025, these stickers once again witness a crucial chapter for millions of Catholics.
As the cardinals prepare for the conclave beginning on May 7, these seals serve as a tangible reminder that every change, no matter how big, is part of a larger cycle. And you can be part of it!
Would you like to have a fragment of this history? Don’t wait any longer: these stamps are not only a tribute to the past, but an investment for the future.
