Training on gender perspective for legislators
The Political Coordination Board (Jucopo) of the Chamber of Deputies authorized the implementation of a course on gender equality, an initiative proposed after the filing of the immunity process against deputy Cuauhtémoc Blanco, accused of attempted rape by his sister. The voluntary training will be aimed at parliamentarians, advisors and administrative staff of the legislative branch.
Origin and scope of the initiative
The coordinator of Morena, Ricardo Monreal, explained that the proposal arose at the request of Ivonne Ortega, leader of the Citizen Movement (MC) bench. The program seeks to raise awareness about gender violence and human rights, although it will not be a mandatory requirement for participants. This measure is framed in a context of growing social demand for transparency and training in equity within public institutions.
