Members of the Directorate of Artistic Activities (DAA) of the Secretariat of Education of Veracruz (SEV) denounced a serious operational, labor and structural crisis that, they warned, puts cultural education in the state at risk.
According to a statement released by the agency’s staff, the DAA currently operates without an institutional work plan, a situation that has generated disorganization, lack of direction and downtime in artistic production processes, directly affecting its training and cultural work.
Among the main problems identified is the lack of institutional leadership, as well as the repeated omission of higher authorities to address the situation. Likewise, they denounced the lack of clear objectives, cultural goals and defined strategies for the production and dissemination of artistic work.
The staff also exposed a deep disconnect between administrative decisions and the nature of artistic work, which has led to structural deficiencies such as the lack of basic infrastructure, rehearsal rooms, adequate production spaces, and minimum conditions for collective creation.
Added to this is a work environment marked by extreme fatigue, emotional exhaustion and material conditions that were described as unworthy for both artists and the administrative staff that make up the DAA.
Faced with this panorama, the workers demanded the immediate intervention of the state educational authorities, the restitution of decent working conditions and the definition of an institutional leadership with a specialized profile in cultural management.
Likewise, they demanded the full reactivation of artistic production and dissemination, considering that these activities are fundamental for the cultural development of the Veracruz educational community.
Finally, they stressed that the Directorate of Artistic Activities is a unique figure at the national level and that its deterioration represents a serious anomaly for the state, by compromising the Veracruz model of artistic education and the constitutional right to a comprehensive education.
