A diagnosis that changed his life
Danny Glover, star of Lethal Weapon and The Color Purple, announced that he has been suffering from Alzheimer’s for several years. The news was given in an interview with journalist Lester Holt.
The 79-year-old actor explained that the neurodegenerative disorder has affected his speech, mobility and memory. Despite being a progressive and incurable disease, he assures that he tries to live in the present and stay active physically and mentally.
The support of his family has been key to facing this stage. Glover highlighted that he adapts every day to the changes that the condition brings.
His career spans more than four decades. He achieved worldwide fame as Detective Roger Murtaugh in the Lethal Weapon saga, alongside Mel Gibson. He also shined in The Color Purple by Steven Spielberg, Predator 2 and Saw.
Outside of film, Glover is a renowned activist for civil rights and social justice. The Academy awarded him the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award for his work.
The revelation generated numerous expressions of affection towards the actor, who continues to be a beloved figure in the entertainment industry.
