An ordinary day in Chihuahua: bones, drones and zero suspects
Ah, Chihuahua. Land of beautiful landscapes, vibrant culture and… human remains appearing as if they were supermarket promotions. In recent hours, the state has shown that it can compete in the macabre contest of “Where is the body?” with an efficiency that would make any crime series look ridiculous.
Operational “Search and (you will not) find those responsible”
The Southern District Prosecutor’s Office, in its eternal search to appear busy, located skeletal remains in Corralejo, municipality of Allende. As? With the sophisticated technique of walking and looking at the ground, although, to be fair, they also used drones. Because, of course, nothing says “serious research” like flying over the desert while someone below shouts: “That looks like a femur… or a dead branch!”
The remains, which could be human (or a badly abused roast chicken), will be subjected to forensic genetic and anthropology tests. That is, science will try to answer if those bones belong to a missing person or if, finally, someone found the skeleton of the state security budget.
Two bodies, zero answers
But wait, there’s more! In La Noria de Aldana, municipality of Cuauhtémoc, the morning search on Wednesday ended with the discovery of two male bodies. One was half-covered with stones, as if the murderer had thought: “This is enough to hide it,” and the other was in an advanced state of decomposition, because, apparently, promptness is no one’s strong suit in this story.
The bodies were sent to the Forensic Medical Service, where experts will try to decipher their identities. Meanwhile, the authorities assure that there are no arrests. Surprise! Because why solve crimes when you can just find more bodies and fill out reports?
So, if you plan to visit Chihuahua, enjoy its landscapes, its gastronomy and… avoid walking through unpopulated areas. Lest they end up becoming the next forensic finding of the month.
