Iván Escalante, head of the Federal Consumer Protection Agency (Profeco), reported this Monday that most self-service stores in Mexico sell the basic basket of 24 products for less than 910 pesos.
During President Claudia Sheinbaum’s morning conference, Escalante explained that the lowest price was recorded in Hermosillo, Sonora, with 743 pesos, while the highest, in Tijuana, Baja California, reached 922.30 pesos.
“They are all below 910 pesos, these are the self-service stores that have a national presence,” said the official, mentioning Soriana, La Comer, Walmart and Chedraui.
Gasoline monitoring
Escalante also highlighted the follow-up to the strategy to stabilize the price of gasoline. The liter of diesel is located at 27.06 pesos nationwide. He explained that the Ministry of Energy maintains a permanent working group with the sector to achieve the goal established by the President.
