Tourist expectations for the summer
Culiacán, Sin. — The Sinaloa Tourism Secretariat estimates that this summer vacation period, one million 440 thousand people will arrive on the beaches of Mazatlán. The figure is based on hotel and lodging reservation records.
Mireya Sosa Osuna, head of the agency, detailed the attractions of the port. More than sixty entrepreneurs with varied businesses settled in the tourist area. Local, national and foreign visitors can purchase a souvenir of the city.
Mazatlán offers more than just beaches. Its gastronomy, rich in seafood dishes, is a magnet. Visits to Tres Islas, catamaran rides and a tour of the historic center also stand out. The official mentioned emblematic sites: the 1783 Observatory, the whale museum, the lighthouse and the Great Aquarium.
Flow and spill on the rise
From January to date, Mazatlán has accumulated more than 2.4 million visitors. The average hotel occupancy reaches 75 percent of available accommodations. In just over six months, the tourist movement has generated an economic benefit of 17,251 million pesos. Sosa Osuna highlighted that this figure translates into well-being for thousands of families that depend on tourism.
