Bruno Mars shows that the future of concerts is already here (and it’s virtual)
Again, Bruno Mars. The guy doesn’t stop. Now he decided that his next scenario would be the metaverse, and the move turned out well. He joined Roblox for a virtual concert that brought together more than 12.7 million viewers. Yes, you read that right. That figure is not a typographical error, it is a historical record for the platform.
Where did all this happen? In the viral minigame ‘Steal a Brainrot’. The experience lasted about seven minutes, but it was enough to make it clear that this digital entertainment thing is serious.
A short but powerful setlist for the new era
In those few minutes, Mars played his new song, “I Just Might” (the first single from his upcoming album “The Romantic”), and of course, he couldn’t miss the classic that we all chanted: “Locked Out of Heaven”.
But this wasn’t just watching a video. Attendees were able to interact with exclusive content and even collect thematic features of the singer. The jackpot was to get the limited edition brainrot “Brunito Marsito”. Because if you go to a concert in the metaverse, at least you want a digital souvenir, right?
“With this staging, the singer demonstrated that virtual shows can offer valuable experiences, with scenarios impossible to replicate in real life,”
such as its multiple avatars and visual effects that would make any real production pale.
A TikTok user (@tiogerath) shared the full performance, showing off the impressive set changes. It is further proof: the metaverse is no longer that strange terrain that technological gurus talked about. It is a real space where people seek connection and shared experiences.
Bruno Mars just put a giant flag in this new world. And 12.7 million people witnessed it.
