Surprise, indignation and annoyance have been generated among users of urban public transport by the increase in the cost of the ticket in the state capital, which began to be applied from this day without, until now, there being an official authorization from the state authorities.
Since yesterday, improvised signs appeared in various urban service units informing passengers that starting today the general fare would rise to 12 pesos and the preferential fare to 7 pesos. However, this adjustment has not been announced or publicly endorsed by the Public Transportation Directorate.
Despite this, several units already display the new prices on the windshield, while users denounce the lack of supervision by the corresponding authorities to verify the legality of the charge, which could represent a violation of the law and current regulations on transportation.
Even some concessionaires already deliver tickets with the new printed cost, while in other units the payment is made without updated receipts, a situation that has generated greater confusion and dissatisfaction among citizens.
Affected users pointed out that this increase has a direct impact on the family economy, especially in a context of generalized price increases, which is why they demanded a prompt clarification from the State Government and the Directorate of Public Transportation.
Unofficially, drivers and citizens comment that the increase would have been previously agreed between authorities and transport representatives during a meeting held last week; However, this version has not been confirmed by any official authority.
Faced with this scenario, the population demands transparency, respect for the law and a clear position on the part of the state authorities to determine if the increase is legal or, where appropriate, proceed in accordance with the law.
