Zelensky does not buy Putin’s story (and he shows it)
The Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelensky, decided to play geopolitical chess and proposed to Russia to extend the Easter truce beyond Sunday. Because, let’s be honest, 30 hours of silence are like a Tinder “I love you”: nice, but insufficient.
In a tweet with more layers than a Netflix drama, Zelensky unleashed: “If Russia wants a real ceasefire, let it show it. Thirty days are enough to talk about peace; 30 hours just to generate memes.” And he added, with the irony of someone who knows the game: “We will imitate their actions… silence for silence, defense for attack.” Translation: Ukraine is not going to be caught off guard.
Russia continues in “fake it until you make it” mode
While Moscow is full of talk of a truce, reports from the Ukrainian Commander in Chief reveal that Russian operations have not stopped. “The artillery fire continues, because of course, what would a truce be without a bit of chaos?”, commented Zelensky with that acid humor that we already know from him.
The president made it clear that the Defense Forces are not going to be fooled: “Each Russian movement will have its response, because here we are not playing blind man’s chicken.” And to top it all off, he warned that he expects live updates from the front, because in this war, as in Instagram stories, context is everything.
