The tour is still on, but the promotion stops
Zayn Malik is going through a difficult time. After the release of his fifth album KONNAKOL, health problems have forced him to modify his entire promotional schedule. The former member of One Direction was hospitalized last Friday the 17th.
He himself shared the news with his followers on Instagram, posting an image from the hospital bed. In a heartfelt message, he wrote:
“To my fans: thank you all for your love and support, now and always. It’s been a long week and I continue to recover unexpectedly.”
And he added, with a tone that breaks anyone’s heart:
“It breaks my heart not to be able to see you this week; I wouldn’t be where I am today without you and I am so grateful for your understanding.”
He did not forget to thank the medical staff, whom he called “legends.”
Cancellations and specialized attention
As a result, he had to cancel his appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon this Tuesday. According to a source cited by People, the absence is due to “medical recommendations.” He also canceled a scheduled visit to the Rough Trade Below vinyl store in New York.
Most worryingly, the artist is reportedly receiving specialized care, including evaluation by a high-level cardiologist. So far, no specific details have been given about his diagnosis.
The good news is that, for now, the start of their tour is still on. It is scheduled for May at the AO Arena in Manchester, United Kingdom, and would close on November 20 in Miami.
