In a solemn and institutional act, Venancio Carlos Reyes Bretón, known as “El Arqui”, was sworn in as constitutional municipal president of La Antigua for the period 2026–2029, reaffirming his commitment to “Build La Antigua Together”.
The Solemn Session of the Town Council took place this morning in the Dome of the Sports Unit of the Vicente López neighborhood, in Ciudad Cardel, where the outgoing mayor Adolfo Bernardo Carrión Carrillo was in charge of taking the legal protest, wishing him success in this new assignment as a public servant.
Subsequently, the now municipal president took oath to the members of his Cabildo, which was made up of Rosa Adriana López Chente Alfaro as sole trustee; María del Rocío Gutiérrez Sarmiento, first councilor; Rosa Elena Alejandro Reyes, second councilor; Mario Alberto Gómez Hernández, third councilor; and Claro Alberto Espejo Gómez, fourth councilor.
During his message, Reyes Bretón thanked the citizens of La Antigua for the trust granted in the last elections, emphasizing that assuming the municipal presidency does not represent a privilege, but rather a great responsibility towards his people.
The mayor expressed his conviction to build a better future for the municipality, giving continuity to the work carried out by his predecessor, and highlighted that his administration will seek to promote economic development, strengthen public works and consolidate social programs.
He indicated that his government will be governed by three fundamental axes: Infrastructure and urban planning with a vision of the future; Government transparency and efficiency; and Social development with a human face.
The event was attended as special guests by the elected mayors Bertín Bravo Montero, from Úrsulo Galván; Uriel Peralta Barrios, from Paso de Ovejas; federal deputy Sergio Gil Rullan; as well as the state leader of the Citizen Movement in Veracruz, Luis Carbonell de la Hoz.
