Attack on councilor and burning of machinery in the north of Veracruz

Armed people attacked the home of a councilor in the municipality of Tempoal, north of Veracruz. They also set fire to heavy machinery in the community of Corozal.

The house of Alma Arenas Ochoa, councilor of the Labor Party (PT), was shot at by unknown assailants. No injuries or deaths were reported. However, the facade and the official’s vehicle were left with bullet holes.

After the incident, Arenas Ochoa will request a license for a month while the authorities investigate. The state leader of the PT, Vicente Aguilar Aguilar, demanded that the State Attorney General’s Office find those responsible.

Burning of machinery

In a different event, several individuals set fire to machinery that was carrying out work in the community of Corozal. A pipe, a bulldozer and a tractor were affected.

State, federal and military elements deployed an operation in the municipality. They were unable to stop the attackers.

The governor of Chihuahua, Maru Campos, met with Regal Nexford executives during the Farnborough Aerospace Fair. The meeting served to consolidate the state’s support for the company and agree on new actions that promote the growth of the aerospace sector.

The meeting included Kevin Longoria, executive vice president; Weldon Abbott, president of aerospace solutions; and Allison Maginot, vice president of trade compliance, government affairs and sustainability.

Support for two plants in BAFAR

The authorities followed up on the incentives, support and legal advice that the state government provides to Regal Nexford. These resources guarantee the operation of two plants located in the BAFAR Industrial Park. Campos listened to the concerns of managers about aspects that could be improved to expand operations and generate more jobs.

“The trust you have placed in us is our commitment to continue complying. This is a clear example of what in this administration we seek to build: legal certainty and confidence in your investments,” stated the governor.

Since it began operations in Chihuahua in 2024, Regal Nexford has invested $13.8 million. The resources were allocated to opening the aerospace division and the Power division, which has created almost 200 direct jobs. The alliance reinforces the state’s position as an investment hub in the aerospace industry.

Sanctions on companies for false information and non-compliance

The Anti-Corruption and Good Government Secretariat disqualified two companies that contracted with the IMSS after providing false data or failing to comply with obligations. The sanctions, published in the Official Gazette of the Federation, exclude them from new public contracts.

High Specialty of Medicine and Training received a fine of 138,911 pesos and a disqualification of one year and three months. The reason: he submitted false information in a direct award for high-tech ambulance patient transfer service. In the contract, the company assured under protest that none of its shareholders were public servants. However, one of them worked at the IMSS itself. The sanction was notified on July 10, 2026.

Protein, S.A. de C.V.was also fined 138,911 pesos and was disqualified for three months. He failed to deliver the performance guarantee and 150 pieces of chloroquine (150 mg tablets), breaching an open contract for the consolidated acquisition of medicines. The notification was made on July 9, 2026.

Both companies are registered in the Directory of Sanctioned Suppliers and Contractors, which prevents them from participating in contracting processes with the federal government. The Secretariat affirmed that the measures were applied in accordance with the law and with proportionality criteria. Companies can challenge, but the agency will defend the sanctions.

“Cheating to obtain public contracts or failing to comply with them has consequences,” warned the Anti-Corruption and Good Government Secretariat.
