Attack on councilor and burning of machinery in the north of Veracruz
Armed people attacked the home of a councilor in the municipality of Tempoal, north of Veracruz. They also set fire to heavy machinery in the community of Corozal.
The house of Alma Arenas Ochoa, councilor of the Labor Party (PT), was shot at by unknown assailants. No injuries or deaths were reported. However, the facade and the official’s vehicle were left with bullet holes.
After the incident, Arenas Ochoa will request a license for a month while the authorities investigate. The state leader of the PT, Vicente Aguilar Aguilar, demanded that the State Attorney General’s Office find those responsible.
Burning of machinery
In a different event, several individuals set fire to machinery that was carrying out work in the community of Corozal. A pipe, a bulldozer and a tractor were affected.
State, federal and military elements deployed an operation in the municipality. They were unable to stop the attackers.
