The constitutional governor of Veracruz, Rocío Nahle García, reported that this Tuesday the director of the federal health system will visit the entity, with the aim of coordinating priority actions, including the application of one million additional vaccines against measles, as part of the national strategy to contain the outbreaks registered in the north of the country.
In a radio interview, the state president explained that Veracruz has already started the vaccination campaign with the application of 250 thousand doses and, after carrying out negotiations with the Federal Government, the shipment of one million more was authorized to guarantee coverage for girls, boys, older adults and the population that does not have the complete scheme.
Nahle García also confirmed that this Monday he is carrying out a work tour through the northern part of the state, particularly in the municipalities of Poza Rica and Álamo, where he heads the state security table and supervises the care actions derived from recent contingencies, such as the clearing of drainage, urban rehabilitation work and direct support to the affected population.
Among the immediate actions, he announced the beginning of the delivery of backpacks and school supplies to students who lost their educational material due to floods. The distribution began with secondary school students and will continue in the coming weeks with preschool and primary school, benefiting thousands of families.
In terms of social care, the governor will inaugurate this day the expansion of the Teletón Children’s Rehabilitation Center (CRIT) of Poza Rica, a work carried out with a state investment of close to 20 million pesos, which will increase the capacity to care for girls and boys with disabilities in the Huasteca and Totonacapan region, by having new offices and specialized personnel.
In the area of security, Rocío Nahle stressed that Veracruz maintains a downward trend in the incidence of crime, a result of coordination with the Federation, the reinforcement of the National Guard, police purging and training, as well as the frontal combat against impunity. He highlighted that in crimes such as feminicide, the arrest of those responsible has been achieved, strengthening citizen confidence.
Likewise, he recalled that after the recent visit of the president of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, a federal investment of more than 20 billion pesos was announced for Veracruz during 2026 and part of 2027, destined for hydraulic works, infrastructure, security and housing, including the relocation of families settled in risk areas in regions such as Poza Rica, Álamo and Huasteca.
Finally, the governor called on the population to take extreme precautions in the presence of cold fronts, since Civil Protection maintains permanent surveillance for northern events, low temperatures and gusts of wind in various regions of the state.
“The most important thing is to take care of ourselves, protect ourselves and follow the official recommendations,” he concluded, reiterating that his administration maintains constant work to improve the living conditions of the people of Veracruz.
