‘Alice in Borderland’ actor under investigation for assault
Japanese actor Nijirô Murakami, 29, faces an investigation for alleged assault against a woman with whom he had a relationship almost two years ago. The case, revealed by the Nikkan Sports newspaper, indicates that the incidents occurred between March and May at his home in the Shibuya district, Tokyo.
According to the report, the woman would have been affected on at least four occasions. The injuries included impacts that caused his head to hit a window, as well as punches and hair pulling. The wounds would have taken about a month to heal.
Following the initial investigation by the Harajuku Police Station, the case was referred to the prosecutor’s office for further review.
Partial recognition and official silence
Murakami would have partially acknowledged the facts during his statement:
“There is no doubt that I hurt her”
So far, the actor and his agency have not issued an official statement. The woman filed a complaint and told her version to the authorities.
Repercussions on your career
Murakami had been announced as the protagonist of the first episode of the series “Strange – Junji Ito’s Strange Tales That Keep You Awake at Night”, scheduled to premiere in July on TV Tokyo. However, after hearing about the case, the television station’s public relations department declared: “We are evaluating how to proceed.”
Son of actor Jun Murakami and singer UA, Nijirô debuted in acting in 2014. Already recognized in Japan, he rose to international fame with “Alice in Borderland.” He has also participated in “Destruction Babies”, “Come Come Everybody” and “This Corner of the World”.
