Tamaulipas is unstoppable! At the Pan American Cadet and Junior Judo Championships, held in Guayaquil, Ecuador, the Tamaulipas delegation took the spotlight. Eduardo Sagástegui won the gold medal in the Junior category, showing that hard work and discipline pay off. That spark of talent we saw on the mat is no coincidence—it’s hours of training, falling and getting up.
But he wasn’t the only one who left his mark. Rafael García Estrever won silver in the -73 kg cadet category, after beating rivals from Uruguay and Canada, although he lost to the Brazilian Nicolás Almeida. In the women’s branch, Frida Maya added a bronze in -57 kg, and Bella María Solís also got on the podium with bronze in cadets -40 kg.
José Pérez, Axel González and Alberto Zamora completed the performance with positions of honor, demonstrating that the Tamaulipas hotbed is more alive than ever.
“I am very satisfied with the team’s performance. Seven athletes and all of them competed at an international level,” said coach Cecilia Martínez Aguilera.
Behind these achievements is the support of the State Government, through the Ministry of Social Welfare and the INDE, directed by Manuel Virués Lozano. These kids not only won medals—they gained experience ahead of the CONADE 2026 National Olympiad in Mérida, Yucatán.
This is not a sprint, it is a marathon. And Tamaulipas goes with everything.
