Inauguration of the IMSS Bienestar Pediatric Hospital in Culiacán
President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo inaugurated new medical areas at the IMSS Bienestar Pediatric Hospital in Culiacán, Sinaloa, a project that required an investment of more than 508 million pesos. During his speech, he emphasized that the Fourth Transformation continues to advance thanks to citizen support and the determination of his government. “There are those who wish for our failure, but they will not achieve it. We count on the strength of the Mexican people,” he declared.
Impact on public health in Sinaloa
The hospital will benefit more than 490 thousand inhabitants with cutting-edge infrastructure: 168 beds (countable and non-countable), 38 offices, four equipped operating rooms and an area specialized in burns. In addition, the first free pediatric hemodialysis session was held at the institution, marking a milestone in local medical care.
Sheinbaum stressed that this project reflects the values of the Fourth Transformation: honesty, commitment and social justice. “We learned the bravery of the dignified and hard-working people of Sinaloa,” he added, highlighting the importance of prioritizing children’s health and labor equity for workers in the sector, who will now access formal positions after years of precarious contracts.
Additional investments and commitments
The director of the IMSS Bienestar, Alejandro Svarch Pérez, explained that 180 million pesos were approved to modernize 54 state operating rooms and 450 million to rebuild the Guamúchil General Hospital. At the same time, the Secretary of Welfare, Ariadna Montiel Reyes, reported that 800 thousand Sinaloans are beneficiaries of social programs, with a total investment of 26 billion pesos in 2025.
Governor Rubén Rocha Moya thanked the federal support, which includes reinforcing state security. “These actions confirm our commitment to children and labor justice,” he stated.
Conclusion: A replicable model
This project not only improves medical coverage in Sinaloa, but also sets a precedent for other states. The combination of infrastructure, historic investment and focus on labor rights demonstrates a comprehensive strategy to transform the public health system.
