The cry that won’t be silenced
Ceci Flores, leader of the Sonora Searching Mothers collective, said it without a filter: there is no “Happy Mother’s Day” for those looking for their missing children. The pain tore the joy from their hearts. “They have left us with empty arms, dead in life,” he said in a video that circulates like wildfire on networks.
Seven years of searching, a bitter discovery
She knows it herself. After seven years of tracking down Marco Antonio, one of his two sons, he found his remains almost two months ago. But the fight does not stop: Alejandro Guadalupe, the other, remains missing since 2015. “There is no happy mother’s day. You have to keep searching until you find them,” he said.
The call that is not optional
With her face marked by sadness, Flores sent a direct message to all the mothers in the country: “We cannot give up. We are the only chance for our children to return home.” And she did not bite her tongue when pointing out to the authorities: “They ask for permission to rest; we ask for patience and strength to move forward.”
Impunity that hurts
The seeker leader is not naive. He knows that the system fails. “We are suffering negligence, bureaucracy, impunity,” he listed. While the State takes breaks, mothers do not have that luxury. “With will and love we can achieve what we have been looking for for years,” he stated, with that mixture of rage and hope that characterizes them.
No surrender in sight
The final message was clear: do not let your guard down, do not rest. Because for them, every day without their children is a day of struggle. And this May 10, there is no cake to cover that void.
