Health surveillance at the World Cup
The Secretary of Health, David Kershenobich, reported that the surveillance system deployed for the World Cup serves an average of 670 people per day. Most cases are minor injuries, bruises, wounds and lacerations.
During the morning conference, the official explained that only one loss of life has been recorded: a person who suffered a heart attack at a World Cup venue. “On average, around 670 people are being treated daily in the centers where the matches are held,” he said.
About 25 people have required transfer to hospitals for specialized care. Kershenobich stated that everyone has recovered satisfactorily and there have been no more deaths.
Operations at Fan Fest and preparations
The authorities also monitor incidents of excessive alcohol or substance consumption, but the situation remains within normal parameters. “We have practically managed to contain it to what is the normal situation. The report continues to be very positive,” he added.
The health operation covers stadiums and social gathering areas such as the Fan Fest. Kershenobich assured that they are prepared to attend a greater influx if the celebrations for the results of the Mexican National Team continue. “We are prepared for a much bigger celebration,” he said.
