‘Project Hail Mary’ consolidates itself as the phenomenon of the year

Ryan Gosling's film maintains its dominance in theaters with a minimal drop, even surpassing 'Oppenheimer'.

Gosling’s ship continues to fly high

The numbers don’t lie: ‘Project Hail Mary’ just had a spectacular second weekend. It raised 54.5 million dollars and only fell 32% compared to its premiere. That, friends, is pure resistance.

To put it in context, that figure is even better than what ‘Oppenheimer’ made in its second weekend (46.7 million). Nolan’s film is already a benchmark, so surpassing it is… a big thing.

Its performance in the second weekend was even better than that of “Oppenheimer”

In just two weeks, the space adventure starring Ryan Gosling already has 300.8 million worldwide. And it cost almost 200 million to produce it. It seems that Amazon MGM’s bet is paying off.

Terror does not scare the box office… due to saturation

While science fiction triumphs, the scare genre had a weak debut. ‘They Will Kill You’, with Zazie Beetz, barely made 5 million in its first weekend.

It’s not a total disaster for a $20 million movie, but it does indicate something: audiences might be fed up with scary movies.

A new horror movie has been released every weekend for the last 14 weekends.

David A. Gross said it clearly: we have 14 weekends in a row with a new premiere of the genre. Sometimes less is more.

Meanwhile, ‘Project Hail Mary’ was left practically alone on premium screens, with no real competition. Its only ‘rival’ was the BTS documentary on Netflix… which didn’t even hit theaters.

The conclusion is clear: Gosling and company have free rein to continue conquering the universe… and the box office.

The World Cup halftime show skyrocketed the views of Madonna, Bieber and BTS.

The halftime performance of the World Cup final, with Madonna, Justin Bieber, BTS and Shakira, not only captivated the global audience. It also generated an immediate rebound in the reproductions of his songs on digital platforms.

Luminate, a firm specializing in music industry data, analyzed listening behavior two days before the event and compared it to the day of the final and the day after. The results show significant increases in each interpreted theme.

  • Justin BieberEverything Hallelujah rose 110% globally: from 592 thousand views to 1.25 million.
  • MadonnaMusic grew 66%, going from 193 thousand to 321 thousand.
