A Complaint That Shakes Mexican Politics
The Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) has taken a bold step by filing a criminal complaint against key government figures and former officials, including former president Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO), Senator Adán Augusto López, and five Morena governors. The central accusation: alleged links with organized crime. This movement marks a before and after in the fight against corruption in Mexico.
The Names That Resonate in the Accusation
Among those mentioned are the Secretary of Public Education, Mario Delgado, the former director of the Federal Electricity Commission, Manuel Bartlett, and the former Secretary of Public Security of Tabasco, Hernán Bermúdez. The governors of Sinaloa, Tamaulipas, Campeche, Baja California and Sonora are also under scrutiny for alleged links to criminal networks, including huachicol schemes and use of illicit money in political campaigns.
Alejandro Moreno, leader of the PRI, was forceful: “There is a pattern of cover-up in the Morena governments”. According to him, the evidence not only comes from the opposition, but from journalistic investigations and international intelligence reports. The complaint includes details about the diversion of fuel destined for the Maya Train, an emblematic project of the federal government.
The Resignation Demand and the International Repercussions
One of the most critical points is the demand that Adán Augusto López resign from his position in the Senate and the Political Coordination Board (Jucopo). Moreno argued that his permanence “denigrates the Senate” and mentioned that the scandal has crossed borders, with complaints even in the European Parliament.
The complaint also links the La Barredora criminal group with diesel smuggling for the Maya Train, pointing out that members close to Hernán Bermúdez would have provided land and logistics for these illicit operations. “They are not rumors, they are documented facts,” Moreno insisted.
A Call for Transparency
This case not only exposes possible high-level crimes, but also raises a crucial question: to what extent has corruption permeated Mexican institutions? Citizens demand clear answers and concrete actions to restore confidence in democracy.
