President Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed that the meeting scheduled for this Monday with Sara Carter, director of the United States Office of National Drug Control Policy, was suspended. During his morning conference, he explained that the postponement was due to “small issues,” although he denied that this would affect bilateral coordination on security matters.
“Roberto told me, the issue of Sara Carter, who is no longer coming on Monday, that the meeting would be postponed. For small matters, essentially,” Sheinbaum said.
Meeting with the head of National Security will take place
Despite the change in agenda, the president assured that this Thursday she will receive Markwayne Mullin, secretary of the United States Department of Homeland Security. First there will be a meeting with the Mexican security cabinet and then the bilateral technical tables will continue.
“Today we do receive the Secretary of Security of the United States. They meet first with the security cabinet and then she stays with the security people working,” he stated.
Sheinbaum stressed the importance of maintaining the understanding reached with the neighboring country, especially after the recent agreements to combat drug trafficking.
“What is relevant to us? Remember that an understanding was signed with the United States, with which we have been working very well,” he concluded.
