Paty Díaz breaks the silence

Actress Paty Díaz spoke again about the relationship she had with Alexis Ayala, after he mentioned her in the reality show La Casa de los Famosos México. “Karma got to him,” she said.

Díaz assured that during the relationship—which lasted five years—he experienced episodes of psychological violence, physical attacks and threats against his life and that of his son. He decided to make his experience public to motivate other people to break the silence.

According to his testimony, the relationship became conflictive during the recording of the telenovela Barrera de amor, when he discovered Ayala’s alleged infidelity. From there, the coexistence became increasingly violent, until reaching a physical attack in a shopping center.

Serious threats

The actress declared that she received serious threats from her ex-partner. After the incident, she sought legal advice and filed a complaint to protect her integrity and that of her son.

Díaz explained that, although for years he preferred to stay on the sidelines, he considered it necessary to share his story to make violence in relationships visible.

For his part, Alexis Ayala has denied the accusations and has stated that “that belongs to the past.”

TIFF 2026 highlights

The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) revealed the lineup for its 51st edition on Monday. Among the world premieres are Misty Green, the new drama by Chris Rock, and I Play Rocky, by Peter Farrelly with Sylvester Stallone.

Toronto, which runs from September 10 to 20, is the largest festival in North America. On this occasion, it will present more than 60 films in its gala and special presentation sections. Rock’s fourth film as a director is also the first to be produced by A24. For his part, Farrelly addresses the making of the iconic Rocky.

Also screening will be Evil Genius, a drama based on true events starring Courteney Cox. Other productions such as The Debut, by Jesse Eisenberg, and Possible Love, by South Korean Lee Chang-dong, appear as international premieres, suggesting that they will debut in Venice first. A Long Winter, by Andrew Haigh, and Tender Loving Care, by Mike Leigh, arrive as Canadian premieres, a sign that they will be seen first in Telluride.

Several Cannes Film Festival titles will also travel to Toronto, including Club Kid, La Bola Negra, Minotaur, Clarissa, All of a Sudden and the Palme d’Or winner, Fjord.

In recent years, TIFF has functioned as a large film market. Last year, Curry Barker’s Obsession was acquired by Focus Features and became a box office hit. The top Audience Award went to Hamnet, by Chloe Zhao. This year’s edition will be opened by Being Heumann, by Siân Heder, about the late activist Judith Heumann.
