Gaza under fire: when “military precision” sounds like macabre sarcasm
If anyone still believed that war has rules, the Israeli attacks this morning in Gaza gave them a masterclass in cynicism. Fifteen vile, fifteen truncated stories—the majority, women and children—because, of course, according to the 21st century war manual, “white people are militiamen… until proven otherwise.”. Two tents in Khan Yunis, supposed safe havens, became makeshift graves for two entire families. Calculation error? The Nasser Hospital, saturated with bodies, does not seem to believe in coincidences.
The blockade: when hunger is a weapon (and no one puts a hashtag on it)
While Israel boasts its “pressure tactic” (blocking food, medicine and even water for 10 weeks), in Gaza children play chasing tanker trucks as if they were influencers after a dropshipping of drinking water. Mahmoud Radwan, a resident of the Shati camp, sums up the dilemma: “I drink salt water or die of thirst. I choose diarrhea.” The wells are contaminated, but COGAT – the Israeli entity that manages this dystopia – insists that “there is enough help”. Spoiler: the UN calls this the worst humanitarian crisis in 19 months of war.
And meanwhile, Hamas and Israel point fingers at each other as if this were a Twitter debate. The Israeli army justifies the attacks: “The militants are hiding among civilians”. Unofficial translation: “Collateral damage happens, lol”. But not a mention of the seven dead in Gaza City, including a father and his son, because in this war even the counting of victims has algorithmic bias.
International silence: the saddest meme of 2024
The only thing more devastating than images of children with empty bottles is global indifference. The UN warns of mass starvation, but world leaders are too busy arguing whether this is “genocide” or “collateral damage”. Meanwhile, Gaza becomes a laboratory of extreme survival: without medicines, with destroyed hospitals and a generation that grows up believing that drones are part of the ecosystem.
Conclusion? This war has no winners, only accomplices. Israel repeats its script of “national security”, Hamas its role of “resistance”, and civilians… well, they just die in creative ways: by bombs, by hunger or by drinking rotten water. And the world, as always, scrolls towards the next tragedy.
