The Marte R. Gómez Stadium will host the First Force National Athletics Championship starting on Friday, June 5. The competition will bring together around 450 national and international athletes in Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas.
International participation and federative endorsement
According to Manuel Virués Lozano, director of the Tamaulipas Sports Institute (INDE), the event will have representatives from Hungary, Colombia, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Bolivia and Cuba, in addition to various entities in the country. The contest is endorsed by the International Athletics Federation, so it will award marks and points for competitions such as the Central American and Caribbean Games.
Disciplines and prominent figures
144 medals will be awarded in speed events, middle distance, long distance, relays, jumping, throwing and combined events. Among the athletes to follow are Adela Honorato Domínguez (10 thousand meters), Guillermo Campos Ornelas (400 m hurdles), Paola del Real Gutiérrez (long jump), Diego del Real Galindo (hammer throw), Jorge Luna Estes (pole vault) and Andrea Velasco Arana (pole vault). Also notable are Roberto Márquez Muñoz (3 thousand m hurdles), Luz Mariana Castro Félix (javelin) and Kalobe Jiménez Campos (110 m hurdles).
The event once again places Ciudad Victoria on the map of high-performance athletics and a significant economic impact is expected from the arrival of athletes, coaches and delegations.
