The ad that everyone is deciphering
Jimmy Donaldson, the mastermind behind MrBeast, just did something only he would do. In the midst of the Super Bowl LX publicity blitz in California, he appeared emerging from an armored safe to announce a million-dollar contest. It wasn’t just another expensive spot—it was the start of a global hunt.
“I have put a million dollars inside this ‘safe’, and one of you will win it”
This is what he said in the video. And of course, the internet went crazy.
How this impossible puzzle works
To find that money, you have to become a digital detective. MrBeast sprinkled puzzles into four specific videos made with Slack. The titles are clues in themselves: from “Watch my Super Bowl ad to win a million” to “One idea. 27 days. Build it with Slack.”
Three are on his YouTube channel. The fourth lives only on the Slack website. The idea is that you review every frame, every detail, as if looking for those Easter Eggs that force you to see the content over and over again.
The Verge explains it perfectly: it is a campaign designed for repeated and analytical consumption. Pure engagement.
But here comes the big but.
Although the contest is advertised to the world, the rules say that only legal residents of the United States, Mexico or Canada can participate. Spain and much of Latin America are left out.
According to JD Supra, this happens because of the crazy contest laws in North America. Organizers usually restrict themselves to territories with legal frameworks that do not complicate their lives.
Still, AdAge points out the genius of the move: integrating entertaining content with a tool like Slack isn’t easy, and MrBeast managed it. The winner will be the one who connects all the dots of this transmedia narrative.
Meanwhile, half the internet is still searching for clues. Because who wouldn’t want to find a million dollars hidden in a video, right?
