When the trip is not for pleasure: extradition with a flavor of drug drama
The Attorney General’s Office (FGR) has just done its best imitation of a travel agency, but with an unenviable destiny: extradite to Peru Isaura Marlene Domínguez, a woman whose resume includes “creative logistics” for the transport of illegal substances. Yes, we’re talking about drugs, because there are no cupcakes or gourmet spices involved in this story.
The crime: when swallowing something literally swallows your life
According to court records, Domínguez was the glamorous link (or not) of a criminal network that operated between Peru and Mexico back in 2014. His specialty: packaging drugs for human transportation, because apparently traditional couriers were not risky enough. The method? Ingestion, because nothing says “adventure” like turning your digestive tract into an illegal delivery service.
Mexican justice located her in Zapopan, Jalisco, in May 2024, probably while she was enjoying a good tequila… or maybe not. After the approval of the Mexican government, his new home will be a cell in Peru, thanks to a VIP transfer (Institutional Penitentiary Vehicle, of course) from the Mexico City International Airport. Without farewell champagne, of course.
International justice: when countries collaborate (but no one leaves happy)
This case is another example of how organized crime has no borders, but neither does justice. The Superior Court of Justice of Callao in Peru required her for aggravated illicit trafficking, a crime that sounds as technical as it is dangerous. And although Domínguez did not win a conventional plane ticket, at least she managed to get two governments to coordinate her agenda for her. That’s calling power!
Meanwhile, on social networks, memes are already circulating: from “extradition or reality show?” to “this is how you travel without a passport.” Because if this case teaches us anything, it is that, in the world of drug trafficking, bad decisions take you far away… but never where you would like.
