Fewer lines, more clicks? The SEP announces its great digital leap
The Ministry of Public Education (SEP), led by Mario Delgado Carrillo, launched this Thursday its latest attempt to modernize the heavy bureaucratic machinery. Their bet: digitize five procedures of the General Directorate of Professions (DGP).
According to the official statement, the certificate of non-sanction, the certificate of intern, the certificate of title in process, the linking of CURP to the ID and the duplicate of the professional ID can now be managed completely online.
All through the portal https://tramitesprofesiones.sep.gob.mx/login. The promise is clear: “which represents a significant advance in administrative simplification, the reduction of waiting times and the elimination of intermediaries”
The figures of the supposed bureaucratic miracle
This is where the ad puts numbers to the promises. The SEP assures that digitization reduces documentary requirements by 70%. But the juicy fact is time.
He added that digitization allows […] to reduce response times from up to 90 to a maximum of 15 business days.
That is, they spend from three months to fifteen days. If it comes true, it would be a radical change. José Omar Sánchez Molina, head of the DGP, justified the movement by an increase in demand: they went from 2,869 procedures in 2024 to 3,654 in 2025.
To access the new system you will only need your MX Key, a current signature and a bank card to pay. It sounds simple. The platform was developed with the DGTIC and the Digital Transformation Agency, guaranteeing – they say – a safe experience.
The question that remains floating in the air is an old acquaintance: will this time be different? Promises of streamlining sound good on paper. The test will be whether professionals really find that quick path or just a new digital labyrinth.
