The curtain does not go down: the alert continues even though the wind dies down
The hurricane winds of cold front number 30 have already passed, but the scenario they left in Juchitán is one of chaos. Although the intensity decreased, the authorities remain on alert. The danger now is the branches that hang like swords of Damocles and the power lines that have become detached.
José Manuel Ríos Cartas, director of municipal Civil Protection, explains it clearly: “We continue pruning trees that threaten to fall.” The repair work is slow and the public continues to suffer the consequences.
“In various neighborhoods of the city they are still without electricity service,” the official admitted.
The blackout is no small thing. Dozens of towns in the Isthmus were left in darkness when the northers with gusts of 120 kilometers per hour burst high-tension cables. Imagine your life stopped: without electricity, without refrigerator, without connection.
A colder second act is coming
The situation repeats itself like a bad script in Salina Cruz and in communities in the mountains. Meanwhile, on the La Ventosa-La Venta highway, truckers drive with their souls in suspense due to winds that still reach 70 km/h. Yesterday, that same force overturned two trailers.
And to top it off, the next actor is already in the dressing room. The authorities announced the entry of cold front number 32. It will bring more northerly winds and bone-chilling temperatures.
The warning also reaches the sea. Waves of up to four meters make going fishing a reckless move. The message is strong: take extreme precautions.
There’s no conspiracy here, just the brute force of nature and creaking infrastructure. Every family without power tonight is a reminder of how fragile everything is when the elements are unleashed.
