While the world looks at the 2026 World Cup, there is another event that promises strong emotions: the Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026. And there, a name that sounds strong is that of Jorge Iga.
The Mexican swimmer is not new to this. He has 10 gold medals in his career: four in Barranquilla and six in San Salvador. “My record of gold medals in a Games is six,” he recalls with pride.
“Very happy to have made my third selection for the Central American and Caribbean Games. With good results also in my personal events, qualifying in four events and in the relay events. I am going to be swimming in nine events and see how we do,” said Iga.
The goal for 2026 is clear: win at least five gold medals. He arrives as the best in the ranking in the 200 meter freestyle, but his ambition goes further. That mentality of not settling, of seeking more, is what defines a true competitor.
For me, this is not just sport. It’s a life lesson: when you work hard, when you prepare, the results come. Jorge Iga knows it well. And in Santo Domingo, he will show that discipline always pays.
