Presidential Memoirs
Former United States President Joe Biden will publish his memoirs titled Promise Me, America on November 17, as confirmed by the publisher Little, Brown and Company. The book will address everything from the economy to his controversial decision to withdraw from the race for re-election in 2024.
“It’s about the challenges we face as a nation. About the decisions I made and why I made them,” Biden said in an announcement video.
The launch date, two weeks after the midterm elections, could generate tensions within the Democratic Party, which seeks to maintain focus on President Donald Trump’s administration. Biden, who will turn 84 three days after publication, remains a divisive figure even among his coreligionists.
The former president has faced criticism for hiding the extent of his health problems during his term. In 2025 he revealed that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. His physical deterioration and the failed debate against Trump in June 2024 led him to abandon the race, which Kamala Harris later lost.
Promise Me, America evokes his previous book Promise Me, Dad, dedicated to the death of his son Beau. Little, Brown did not disclose financial details, although these types of contracts typically exceed seven figures.
Biden plans promotional tour and interviews. The work promises to be a key piece to understand the years of a presidency marked by wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, infrastructure laws and the Capitol crisis.
