FIFA details historic compensation for clubs
FIFA reported this Friday how it will distribute the $355 million destined for clubs that send players to the 2026 World Cup. Each institution will receive about $5,000 per day for each player called up among the 1,248 selected for the 48-team tournament in North America.
For the first time, clubs will also be compensated for players who participate in all 905 World Cup qualifying matches.
The fund seeks to recognize the efforts of the institutions that train talents. FIFA considers that this compensation strengthens the relationship between federations and clubs.
The amounts are calculated according to the days that each player is available for selection. This represents a significant benefit for clubs, especially those with multiple call-ups.
The scheme ensures that institutions receive a direct financial return for their contribution to the development of international football.
