FGR rules out blocking Verónica Ruffo’s accounts

President Claudia Sheinbaum pointed out that some television series try to promote among young people the idea that joining criminal groups represents a path to success. He said it during the “México Canta” contest, in his morning conference this Thursday, July 23 at the National Palace.

Sheinbaum rejected the incursion of youth into organized crime and assured that these narratives distort reality.

“They try to promote to young people an idea that if you get involved with a criminal group you will be successful; you will have money; women, because that is what they unfortunately promote; a life of luxury, in short.”

The president highlighted the effect this has on young audiences: “So what happens to a young person? They turn a drug lord into a hero or a heroine and we are against that because that is not life for young people, that is death.”

Prevention actions

Sheinbaum described narrative as “very important” in the formation of youth. He assured that his administration works “dose every day to make that a reality.” He called on society, parents and the government to take care of young people collectively, with cultural actions such as the promotion of indigenous peoples.

Historical investment in eastern Mexico

President Claudia Sheinbaum reported that the Government of Mexico will invest 111 billion pesos (mp) in the State of Mexico, with emphasis on the eastern area. The Comprehensive Plan of the East covers ten priority municipalities: Chalco, Chicoloapan, Chimalhuacán, Ecatepec, Ixtapaluca, La Paz, Nezahualcóyotl, Texcoco, Tlalnepantla and Valle de Chalco.

“There are 111 billion pesos that we are investing, mainly in the eastern area. It is a densely populated area that for years had a lack of investment,” he said in the morning conference from the Convention Center of the State of Mexico.

The investment is added to the 95 thousand million pesos annually of the Wellbeing Programs. The Secretary of Infrastructure, Jesús Antonio Esteva Medina, explained that by 2026 33,663 million pesos will be allocated, and in total during the six-year term there will be 76,400 million pesos.

Key works by sector

Road infrastructure: 677 thousand m2 of paving and 92 km of the Federal Highway Network have been intervened, with a goal of 170 km.

Vehicle bridges: Two bridges in Alameda Oriente, the first concludes in November 2025 and the second in October 2027. 18 more will be added, of which 10 correspond to 2026.

Education: Nine new high schools, six completed in 2025 and three in process for 2026. In addition, expansion in Texcoco and reinforcements in Nezahualcóyotl and Tlalnepantla.

Community centers: Ten México Unparable locations, one per municipality, with completion scheduled for October.

Safety: 148 safe trails were completed in 2025; By 2026, 208 more will be built.

Mobility: Construction of the Ixtapaluca Trolleybus begins (10 km, completion in June 2027) and the Mexibús Vicente Villada-Panteón Los Rosales is in tender. In trains, Mexico-Querétaro invests 47,500 million pesos and AIFA-Pachuca, 20 thousand million pesos.

Water and health: Conagua reports accumulated investment of 23,317 million pesos, including the Lago de Guadalupe water treatment plant. The IMSS will build the Chicoloapan General Hospital, the Ecatepec Pediatric Oncology Hospital and the Chimalhuacán Regional General Hospital, in addition to new medical units. Four Early Childhood Education and Care Centers begin in September and three more in November.

The ISSSTE is building a family medicine center in Naucalpan and a health center in Texcoco with 14% progress.

Consular action after the death of a Mexican in Florida

The Mexican consulate in Orlando reported that it provides support and follow-up to the case of Juan Jairo Coronilla, a Mexican who lost his life after being run over after an encounter with the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service (ICE) in Florida. The victim was on vacation in the region.

As part of the efforts, the consular headquarters asked the Florida Highway Patrol for an exhaustive investigation to clarify the facts and determine responsibilities.

Since the case became known, consular personnel contacted the family to offer support and guidance on the procedures, always respecting the decisions of those close to them regarding the handling of the case.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) expressed condolences to the family members and reiterated its commitment to use all consular, legal and diplomatic instruments to protect the rights of Mexicans abroad.

In addition, diplomatic efforts are being made with US authorities to express the concern of the Government of Mexico over the detention and arrest procedures that, on several occasions, have led to fatal outcomes.

The consulate will maintain close monitoring of the case and reaffirmed its willingness to provide the necessary assistance to the family in these difficult times.
