Urban music walks through Paris
This Friday at Paris Fashion Week something happened that speaks more about our cultural moment than any textile trend. Designer Willy Chavarría, in a brilliant move, had two Mexican reggaeton heavyweights walk down his catwalk. They were not professional models. They were El Malilla and El Bogueto, two voices that were born in the State of Mexico and that are now the new face of men’s fashion for the fall-winter 2026 collection.
The bet was total and it became trending topic instantly. It is the definitive confirmation: the sound of the streets no longer only dominates the playlists, but also the most exclusive stages of global fashion.
From Valle de Chalco to the capital of fashion
The pride was palpable. Both artists flooded their social networks with behind-the-scenes footage of this historic moment. For them, this goes beyond a simple parade.
“The Reaaaalll Papi Chulo Aka Tu Maliante Baby, El Chamako de Valle, M A L I and now MaliTopModel… stick it on your chest that this is also yours. UP THE STATE OF MEXICO”,
wrote El Malilla, originally from Valle de Chalco. His message says it all: this is a victory shared with an entire community.
As he paraded in loose pants and a jacket with leather details, his attitude made it clear that he belonged there. For his part, El Bogueto showed a darker and more sophisticated look, with a black coat and printed pants, asking his followers for luck before going out.
What we saw was not just a new collection. It was a cultural change walking on a catwalk. The barrier between ‘urban’ and ‘haute couture’ was completely blurred. And the result was authentic, powerful and 100% Mexican.
