Federal operation: when chance works in favor (and drug trafficking loses)
Ah, Culiacán, that land where suspicious packages on the roads are as common as taco stands. This time, the federal forces decided to play Russian roulette with cars on the Culiacán-Tamazula highway and, oh surprise, they won the jackpot: a Toyota Corolla that, in addition to being the grandparents’ favorite car, hid 20 bags of “crystal candy” (yes, methamphetamine, but how boring it sounds without euphemisms). The driver, probably thinking he was invisible, will now have plenty of time to reflect on his decisions in the hands of the FGR.
The botanical discovery: marijuana that grows alone (or almost)
Meanwhile, in Abuja, the army came across an abandoned container that, instead of tools or old toys, contained eight kilos of “green grass.” Could it be that in Sinaloa the plants are packaged by themselves and left in discreet places so that the authorities can practice their sense of smell? The military, with the patience of a skeptical gardener, handed over the find to confirm if it was marijuana (spoiler: obviously it was).
The most ironic thing of all is that, while the cartels strive to innovate methods of transportation, here we have a guy with a Corolla and a container thrown away like garbage. Does drug trafficking need a logistics course? Or maybe, just maybe, next time they should consider sending their “products” by certified mail (although, seeing how they’re doing, it’s better not to give them any ideas).
While the authorities congratulate themselves on another successful seizure, we are left with the million-dollar question: how many more Corollas will circulate with “gifts” before someone updates the drug trafficker’s manual? For now, if you see an abandoned package in Culiacán, better call the experts… or at least don’t open it without gloves.
