A training that was more than tactics
It was not just any practice at La Noria. Cruz Azul opened the doors and let in the Sangre Azul bar just before the Young Classic. It was an afternoon where the spirit of the people was mixed with the urgent demand to win again.
And that demand has reason. La Maquina arrives at this Matchday 14 in second place, but has a complicated streak: five games without victory between Liga MX and Concachampions. The loss to LAFC left open wounds and questions about Nicolás Larcamón’s team.
Even so, the illusion of beating América remains intact. Under a drizzle, the fans did not stop cheering. Chants like “Come on, come on, Cruz Azul” and “You have to be champion this year” turned the training into an early flag.
The moment that put a lump in everyone’s throat
The most emotional scene came with the flags. Banners appeared with the image of President Víctor Velázquez with his mother, Natalia Rangel, who recently passed away. The bar waved those flags throughout the practice, in a gesture of total support for the manager.
In terms of football, Larcamón led the last practice with a full squad. Carlos Rotondi worked normally, while Kevin Mier and Andrés Gudiño showed great level between the three sticks. The fight to be the starting goalkeeper is burning.
To close, players and fans gathered for a photo that captured the team’s moment. Velázquez greeted the footballers one by one, reinforcing that feeling of internal unity.
Now all that’s left is the difficult part: visiting América at Banorte. Cruz Azul arrives with pressure, history and a huge thirst for revenge. And after this afternoon, he knows that he is not alone.
