Portugal crushes Uzbekistan with a double from Cristiano Ronaldo
Cristiano Ronaldo finally appeared in the 2026 World Cup and did so with authority. He scored two goals to lead Portugal in a 5-0 rout of Uzbekistan, played at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. The match corresponded to Group K.
The first goal came in the 6th minute. With that score, Ronaldo became the first footballer in history to score in six consecutive World Cups. A record that expands his legend.
Portugal gave no truce. Nuno Mendes increased the lead, and then Cristiano himself scored his double. An own goal from Abduvohid Nematov and the final goal from Rafael Leao sealed the win.
Uzbekistan tried to react. He brought the score closer with a goal that was disallowed due to a previous foul in midfield. The Portuguese defense kept the score at zero.
With this result, Portugal is close to qualifying for the next round. He will seek to confirm his ticket next Saturday against Colombia in Miami.
