Cristian Castro’s millennial obsession
Robert here. I have to confess something: I grew up watching Cristian Castro on MTV Tr3s. Their drama was our drama. And look, decades later, the man has not changed. Continue with the same fixation.
His current objective, according to what he said in Ventaneando, is none other than Luis Miguel. Even though the Sun has been… let’s say, elusive with the idea of collaborating, Cristian does not give up.
“I’m going to go to Madrid to look for him, until I find him: Luis Miguel, wherever you are,”
said the “Azul” singer, half jokingly, half seriously. The statement has that soap opera tone that only the greats of the romantic ballad can achieve.
From the stage to the wedding (hypothetical)
What’s funny – or tragic – is the level of his determination. He is not satisfied with a studio duet. If Luis Miguel does not agree, Cristian has a plan B: sing at his supposed wedding with Paloma Cuevas.
“I want to sing at your wedding, mijo, even if it’s just let me sing at your wedding”,
he let out between laughs. The mental image is powerful. And a little cringe, I admit.
Meanwhile, Castro also celebrates collaborating with young artists like Eden Muñoz and even makes eyes at Natanael Cano. But his heart – and his obsession – clearly belong to his contemporary colleague.
“He knows that I’m dying for him… a lot of people compare us, what I want is for us to sing together, so that things can be whitewashed,”
he explained, trying to take the edge off a rivalry that the public does seem to fuel.
At the end of the day, this is pure spectacle. It’s the kind of cultural gossip that keeps us glued. Will Cristian achieve his dream? Or will it be another chapter in the eternal soap opera of Mexican entertainment? Time – and perhaps an invitation to a wedding in Madrid – will tell.
