Criminal gangs control the dispossession of houses in Edomex

A dark network of criminal groups takes over homes in the State of Mexico, leaving terror and chaos in their wake.

The Sinister Empire of Shadows

In the bowels of Mexico City and its surrounding municipalities, a dark web of 14 criminal groups weaves its reign of terror. They are not simple criminals; They are predators who, under the guise of unions and social organizations, have extended their claws towards a macabre business: the theft of property. Their methods are as bold as they are brutal, leaving a trail of tears, blood and stolen property in their wake.

The Lords of Chaos

Among the shadows, names like UPREZ, the Liberty Union and the fearsome band Los 300 resonate like echoes of a nightmare. These organizations, once dedicated to huachicoleo and extortion, have escalated their ambition. Now, their eyes are on abandoned houses, unprotected land and vulnerable families. In Ecatepec, the epicenter of this plague, 12 of these gangs operate with impunity, turning the municipality into their personal fiefdom.

RelatedGangs disguised as unions now rob houses in Edomex

But they don’t act alone. With the precision of a well-trained army, they have infiltrated entire colonies. In Héroes Ecatepec and Héroes Tecámac, their “hawks” watch every street, every movement, ensuring that no one interferes with their lucrative business. And when they decide to act, they do so with a ferocity that would chill the blood of even the bravest: they break into homes with luxury of violence, expelling entire families and then renting the properties as if they were their own.

The Catalog of Infamy

Their crimes are not limited to dispossession. These criminal cells are a multifaceted cancer. From drug dealing to drop-by-drop loans, from shooting in the air to homicide, his thirst for power knows no limits. Even in the tragedy they found opportunity: the Liberty Union extorted victims of the earthquake of September 19, 2017, charging “floor rights” to those who had already lost everything.

But his audacity does not end there. In Ecatepec, they have pirated the municipal hydraulic network, stealing water to sell it in pipes. The authorities, upon discovering these clandestine shots, have found stickers of groups such as La Chokiza or USON, seals of an empire built on the misery of others.

Is there Hope?

The question hangs in the air, loaded with desperation. As these gangs expand their dominance, victims cry out for justice. The Mexican Prosecutor’s Office investigates, but the monster seems to grow faster than the actions to stop it. Can the light defeat the shadows, or is the State of Mexico condemned to live under the yoke of these crime lords?

Two people rescued on jet skis off the coast of Veracruz

The Navy helps two crew members stranded on Salmedina Island due to mechanical failure.

Elements of the Secretary of the Navy rescued two people who were left adrift on a jet ski with mechanical failures. The incident occurred off the coast of Veracruz, in the vicinity of Isla Salmedina.

The operation

The Naval Search, Rescue and Maritime Surveillance Station (ENSAR) Veracruz received an emergency call. They reported a jet ski with a breakdown that prevented its safe movement. There were two crew members on board.

Given the warning, a Defender-type rescue vessel was ordered to set sail. Personnel specialized in maritime search and rescue operations went to the scene. When they arrived, they found the crew. Due to the low draft in the area, rescue swimmers recovered them.

Once the maneuver was completed, the jet ski was towed to the facilities of the Heroic Naval Military School. There, the two crew members were evaluated by Naval Health personnel from the Antón Lizardo Naval Hospital. Both were in good health. The operation concluded successfully.

March of teachers causes traffic chaos near the Azteca stadium

Teacher protest and strong police operation before the Colombia-Uzbekistan match.

Hundreds of teachers led a peaceful march to the Azteca stadium before the Colombia-Uzbekistan match for the 2026 World Cup. The police blocked access with concrete barriers, cranes and trucks to prevent their progress.

The mobilization did not reach the stadium, but it generated heavy congestion in the surrounding area. Those attending the game had to take a detour and walk several kilometers.

Security operation and official response

Some 11,219 troops were deployed in the capital, with reinforcements from horse police in Azteca. The Secretary of Security, Pablo Vázquez, reported that almost 8,000 would guard the stadium and the rest the historic center, where a festival of supporters was set up.

The deployment occurs six days after the protests during the opening of the World Cup, when teachers, searchers for the missing and activists demonstrated. On that occasion, the forces blocked their advance without major setbacks.

The National Coordinator of Education Workers called for new mobilizations to increase pressure. The federal government called the unions to a dialogue table.

President Claudia Sheinbaum announced teleworking in the public sector and suspension of classes in Mexico City and Guadalajara to avoid congestion during matches.

Groups of relatives of missing people have also protested to demand attention to the crisis that has accumulated 135,000 cases.
