Road incident with serious consequences
MONTERREY, NL.— An adult couple suffered moderate injuries after being hit by a pick-up truck that invaded their lane, causing a fire in both vehicles. The accident occurred on Antonio L. Rodríguez Boulevard, near Colonia Miravalle, on the border with San Pedro.
Details of the accident
According to testimonies collected, those affected were traveling in a Nissan X-Trail when they were hit by the other vehicle, which knocked down a tree and a light fixture after crossing the central median at high speed. The frontal impact generated an immediate fire, completely consuming the units involved.
Witnesses reported that the drivers of the pick-up left the scene without providing help, while the injured couple — approximately 55 years old — received help from passersby. The man had wounds on his arm and dorsal bruises; women, cervical and abdominal pain. Both were transferred to a private hospital by Red Cross paramedics.
Emergency operation
Personnel from the Nuevo León Fire Department, supported by a water pipe and Civil Protection equipment, managed to control the flames after an hour of work. The road remained closed during the operation, which included the removal of debris and the stabilization of a downed pole.
