Christina Applegate’s health is in the news again
Actress Christina Applegate is hospitalized in Los Angeles, according to TMZ. Close sources indicate that his admission would have occurred at the end of March, although the specific cause has not been made public.
What we do know is that since 2021, the star of Married… with Children and Dead to Me has been fighting multiple sclerosis (MS). Her representative, consulted by the media, avoided confirming or denying the news, limiting herself to remembering that Applegate has been very open about her medical challenges.
“The actress has spoken publicly on several occasions about her medical history and the challenges she faces,” the spokesperson said.
A documented battle
The news comes just after her MeSsy podcast partner Jamie-Lynn Sigler — who also lives with MS — announced a temporary hiatus from the show. Hard coincidence of fate.
In her memoir You With the Sad Eyes, published just a month ago, Applegate describes the daily impact of the disease without filters. She talks about difficulty moving her arm when she wakes up and how the condition makes her more vulnerable to infections, which has landed her in the emergency room before.
But this is not something new for her. In her podcast she said that, since her diagnosis, she has been hospitalized more than 30 times in three years for severe episodes of vomiting, diarrhea and pain. He even mentioned a hospitalization for a kidney infection that caused him “extreme” pain.
Her medical history is extensive: breast cancer in 2008 (which led to a double mastectomy) and now this chronic nervous system disease where the immune system itself attacks the nerves.
The most striking thing perhaps is his determination. Christina, mother of a 15-year-old teenager, has made it clear that she is willing to undergo any necessary test to understand what is happening to her. Even those that no one has contemplated yet.
Meanwhile, his fans and those of us who have followed his career with affection since the days of Kelly Bundy can only wait for news and send good vibes. Your openness in sharing this battle is, in itself, an act of strength.
