Arrest of former officials for links to organized crime
In a coordinated action between the Secretariat of National Defense, the Navy, the National Guard and state authorities, three former officials of the State of Mexico and two civilians were arrested in the early hours of April 9. Those involved are accused of extortion and links to the Familia Michoacana, according to official reports.
Modus operandi and specific positions
The detainees took advantage of their public positions or political connections to demand payments from merchants and manipulate public works contracts. Among those arrested are:
- José Humberto “N”: Trustee of Aculco, who allegedly threatened a merchant to obtain money.
- Edgar “N”: Former Director of Public Security, in charge of collecting through intimidation.
- Ari Patrick “N”: Former mayor of Almoloya de Alquisiras, linked to extortion in tortilla factories in Tenancingo and Malinalco.
The network operated under a hierarchical scheme where Guillermina “N” coordinated payments and ensured that the victims bought supplies from the accused, according to the investigations.
