Brad Pitt joins the European drama (and no, it is not a sequel to “Mr. & Mrs. Smith”)
It seems that Brad Pitt decided that his era of iconic roles didn’t end with Cliff Booth. Now he is preparing to star in The Riders, the adaptation of Tim Winton‘s novel, directed by Edward Berger (yes, the same one who traumatized us with “All Quiet on the Front”). And of course, like any indie project that is respected in 2026, it comes with the A24 seal —because, what would cinema be without that hipster aesthetic that makes us feel cultured?
A family drama with more mystery than an episode of “True Detective”
Pitt will play Fred Scully, a guy who, after spending two years wandering around Europe as if he were a sponsored influencer, decides to settle in Ireland with his wife and daughter. They buy an old house (because nothing says “fresh start” like living at the foot of a ruined castle). But here comes the plot twist: when the wife disappears without a trace, Scully is more lost than a tourist without Google Maps. Infidelity? Kidnapping? Existential crisis? The film promises to explore that void with the same intensity as a “What do I do now?” meme.
Meanwhile, Edward Berger continues his streak of dark and atmospheric projects. After Conclave and before releasing The Ballad of a Small Player (with Colin Farrell, another who knows how to choose complicated dramas), the German director seems determined to become the king of cinema that leaves you thinking more than a philosophy exam.
And if that were not enough, Pitt also has The Continuing Adventures of Cliff Booth with David Fincher and Quentin Tarantino in the pipeline — a combo that promises as much as a brunch of avocado toast with specialty coffee. The result? Probably another Oscar or at least Twitter-worthy memes.
