A project with history and luxury equipment
The production of The Riders has been a process of more than a decade, beginning when Kajganich presented the novel to the production company Scott Free, founded by legendary filmmaker Ridley Scott. Although it was initially considered an internal project, it gained new momentum when Edward Berger showed interest in directing it, following his successful collaboration with Scott Free on The Terror.
The production team includes Ridley Scott and Michael Pruss through Scott Free, along with Berger’s Nine Hours company, Plan B Entertainment (Pitt’s production company) and Kajganich himself. The participation of A24 has been essential to secure both financing and global distribution of the film, scheduled to begin filming in early 2026 in various European locations.
This project joins A24’s prestigious catalogue, which includes upcoming releases such as Materialists by Celine Song and The Smashing Machine with Dwayne Johnson. Meanwhile, Brad Pitt continues to diversify his career with other projects, including The Continuing Adventures of Cliff Booth, directed by David Fincher for Netflix and based on a script by Quentin Tarantino.
